Shanghai Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd. (SIMEE), found in 1953, is a modern science & technology enterprise with multi-qualifications authorized by the State Government for having the Class A Qualification on design, general contracting, supervision and engineering cost consultant in the fields of Machinery engineering, Architecture, Light-industry and Medical industry, also having the Qualification on city drainage, electronic engineering, building glass, material handling design, foreign economical cooperation etc. affiliated to Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group). Main business scope includes the engineering design, engineering general contracting, engineering technical consulting, engineering supervision, engineering project management, engineering investment audit, construction drawing review etc. for various fields such as automotive industry, M+E engineering, building material, light industry, medicine pharmacy, coating, environmental protection, civil architecture, M+E equipment, nuclear equipment etc.
SIMEE has passed the Conformity of ISO9001 Quality System in Dec. 1998. There are 600 employees, within which there are two State Design Masters, more than 30 processor-equivalent senior engineers; over 170 senior engineers; over 60 State Registered Architecture/Structure Engineers, and the technicians have been more then 80% of total employees of SIMEE.
Since 1980’s, SIMEE has undertaken the engineering design, engineering general contracting, project management, construction supervision etc. for many foreign-funded, joint venture and State-owned enterprises in the field of automotive industry, mechanical industry, information electronic trade, elevator factory, floating glass, household electric appliances, copier, motorcycle, medicine instrument etc. Among them, more than 150 project have been awarded the Excellent Design Prize at different levels of the State, the Ministry and the Municipal (province). Especially in the automotive industry, SIMEE has undertaken the engineering design for the carmakers and the auto parts factories such as Shanghai Volkswagen Co., Ltd., Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd., United Automotive Electronic System Co., Ltd., Shanghai Auto Gear Works, Yanfeng Visteon Auto Trim Co., Ltd. etc. SIMEE has made great contribution for the development of Shanghai automotive industry. In the mechanical trade, SIMEE has undertaken the super-heavy duty and high technology projects, and made great contribution to the development of equipment manufacture industry
As for the civil architecture design, the design fruits have involved many fields such as the 5-star, 4-star and 3-star hotel, school, hospital, public building, villa, residence quarter, environmental friendly landscaping, interior design etc. Through many years’ hard work to form strong ability, SIMEE has enjoined the extensive reputation in the field of civil architecture design.
In recent 10 years, SIMEE has made different efforts to change its operation mode from the single-aim of engineering design business to the design as dragon head following with engineering general contracting, project management business, and established the EPC management mode of engineering general contracting, trained a project general contracting management team with rich experiences, formed the strong ability and market advantage.
